We were home in South Carolina this week, checking on the house, watering the plants, feeding the cat (just kidding), going to the dentist, hairdresser, and doctor’s appointments. We checked into our normal haunts Viennas, Hot Fish Club, The Goat, Inlet Provision Company (where we chatted with Wallace and DiAnn two of our most faithful followers!). The house was in good shape thanks to Rich Mormon from Condo-Care who’s been checking on the house regularly, watering the plants, and taking care of the yard.

While we were home, we got together with Tim & Brenda who have a Swift 44 and are planning a loop trip in 2021 (Right Tim?) for a very good Italian dinner. We also had dinner with our friends Dave and Darlys at El Centro mexican (very good food).

Oh, and if you are one of our friends in Murrells Inlet, Michael and I went to “Sol” a Mexican restaurant on Route 17 in Pawleys Island, just north of Whole Foods. (next to the Shell station where the old Hot Dog place used to be). The food was AMAZING!!!! Give it a try!

Our friends Dave and Darlys picked us up on Saturday afternoon and took us to Myrtle Beach Airport for our evening flight to Charlotte, then on to Toronto. We got into Toronto at about 11:30 PM about an hour late because the plane in front of us broke down on the tarmac broke down and blocked us in. They had to wait for a tow truck to pull it off so that we could taxi to the runway.

We had a reservation at the Sheraton right in the airport, so after a quick snack (and beer) at the hotel bar ($44 Canadian!!!! Hotel + Airport upcharges combined), We got a pretty good night’s sleep. Our train to Kingston wasn’t until 1:30 PM, so we slept in a bit, then took the shuttle train from the airport to Union Station in Toronto, and then the VIA train from Toronto back to Kingston.

The boat survived our absence just fine. We opened up the boat to air it out and the 16 knot (18 mph) winds coming off Lake Ontario blew out the back screen door. Always Something!

Next week, we are planning to re-provision on Monday, then head to Trenton, ON, and the entrance to the Trent-Severn waterway on Tuesday if the winds dropdown. We’ve heard that they have had 4-6 foot waves out on the lake this week with the winds so if it’s bad, we’ll spend another day or two here in Kingston.

 Cheers!
